The Hamed Farid, Radiology, UC Irvine School of MedicineDepartment of Radiology Welcomes Hamed Farid, M.D.

Dr. Hamed Farid has joined the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine as an assistant professor in the Department of Radiological Sciences. Farid specializes in neurointerventional radiology and is part of UC Irvine's Stroke & Cerebrovascular Center. His areas of expertise include cerebral aneurysms, brain and spine arteriovenous malformation, head and neck tumors and stroke.

Farid has received numerous awards. This year, he was honored with the Highlights in the Field Award from the American Academy of Neurology for his research on the effectiveness of treating children with strokes with a technique known as mechanical embolectomy, a standard treatment for adults.

Farid is a member of the American Society of Neuroradiology's Continuing Medical Education Committee. He is also part of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery and the Radiological Society of North America.

Farid completed his medical degree, residency and fellowship in diagnostic neuroradiology at the University of California, San Diego. He also achieved a second fellowship in neurointerventional radiology at the University of California, San Francisco.
